Preface:
You can run HyCD Publisher in demo mode by selecting the "Demo" button when
the software is first started. Try out all the features in HyCD Publisher
including creating Hybrid CD-ROM for PC, Mac, and UNIX. The only limitation
you have is that you can only create CD-ROM images less than 5 MB in size.
If you register this suite then you can enjoy the full benefits of this
program.
The Steps:
- Create a bootable floppy disk with the necessary files on it. (see previous
page)
- Create an image from this diskette (once again, test the floppy first before
you create the image)
Use one of the tools where I've made a link to it, at
the bottom.
Start the CDR HyCD Publisher ver.4.77 /
4.78 (or more recent).

Click on Disk format and layout. This
will give you a sub-menu. Make the settings as shown below.

Click on the third tab, Bootable CD. Specify the just created image file
in the Boot Disk Image File field. Also
change the Boot Media Type emulation.
Otherwise the CD won't properly boot.

Click on the Header Information tab and
change the Volume ID to your likings. I changed it to Bootable_CD (No longer
than 11 characters, using ISO 9660 standard) See the manual for the other
input fields.

The next step is the File Selection.
Select all the files you want to put onto the
CD. Use either the Windows
Explorer or the build in File Selector Window. When
you're ready with this, press the Done button

Now we've come to the Profile system
speed. Once again, press on this button to proceed with this
step. You're status windows could look like this:

After this screen another status screen comes up, giving a summary of the
statistics of the data and system overal speed.
The next step is the Create
Image. Clicking on this button proceeds the
process. First it creates the image file and then it burns the image onto an
empty CD.
When the burning has succesfully ended (without any
errors), your PC Bootable CD-ROM has been created.
Test the CD and have phun !
Users add-on note (on HyCD)
A bootable CD can emulate either a floppy, IDE HD or SCSI HD. I initially
started making bootable cd's emulate floppies.
- A bootable floppy disc with the necessary drivers recognizing hard drives
and cdrom's. I use 720k floppies.
- Diskedit.exe from Norton Utilities 8.0 for DOS or a similar util.
- Run Diskedit and create an image file of the bootable floppy. Save the file
as boot.img
- Now start up HyCD Publisher, and follow the instruction as illustrated in
the manual.
For IDE or SCSI the process is simplier.
- Start HyCD Publisher.
- select a bootable HD*, other than your startup device.
- write it to an image file. Save as hd_boot.img
- Now follow the instruction as illustrated in the manual.
* - If the boot HD is larger that 650mb then it won't fit on a CD. I
have an old 20mb scsi hd I use for this, unless its for NT, then 200mb
hd. Need room for the files I intend to use from the CD.
thx
