STEVE
O'ROURKE, PINK FLOYD MANAGER
1940 - 2003

October 2003

Pink
Floyd's manager Steve O'Rourke died of a stroke today. Steve managed
the Pink Floyd and solo works of Nick Mason, Rick Wright and David
Gilmour. He started managing the band back in 1968 when The Pink
Floyd stopped using the services of Peter Jenner and Andrew King.
As
well as managing Pink Floyd Steve also had a strong interest in
motor car racing. He had to stop racing for his team due to heart
problems but a stroke today took his life.
From
FIA GT
We were extremely sad to learn today of the death of EMKA Racing
owner Steve O'Rourke, subsequent to the heart problems which had
forced him to give up racing earlier this season. During a long
career in sports car racing, which started in 1979, Steve competed
in the FIA GT Championship on many occasions. He competed in the
full 2000 and 2001 seasons, with Tim Sugden and a Porsche 996
GT3-R, his best results being two second-place finishes in 2000.
This
season, the Pink Floyd manager had continued to be a regular visitor
to the FIA GT Championship paddock. His car, in the hands of Tim
Sugden with Martin Short and then Emmanuel Collard, enjoyed an
excellent season, winning in Enna Pergusa and Anderstorp, when
Steve accepted the trophy for the winning team. Our sincere condolences
go out to his family and the whole of EMKA Racing.
