GILMOUR EXTENDS INVITATION TO WATERS WHILE RUMORS FLY

According to several reliable inside sources, David Gilmour has made a step towards reconciliation with his former bandmate Roger Waters. Several weeks ago, Gilmour contacted Waters and invited him to join Pink Floyd on their 1998 tour. Waters has not given any reply at this time; he has neither agreed nor declined the invitation.

The media has exaggerated the story. Numerous print, radio and television sources have claimed that Waters and Pink Floyd have reconciled and will tour. This report is premature. In fact, no agreement has been made, and Waters has not yet expressed any reaction to the invitation.

It is important to note that Gilmour did not invite Waters to appear on the forthcoming Pink Floyd album. Also, the invitation was only to join the 1998 tour, and not an invitation to become a permanant member of Pink Floyd again.

Without substantiating any of these reports, Pink Floyd's management has stated that they are "looking at options." The band's management said they are "at least six months away from anything being confirmed."

NEW DIGITAL REMASTERS TO BE RELEASED IN THE UNITED STATES

On September 23, six new remastered editions of Pink Floyd albums will be released in the United States on the Columbia label.

The new releases will include remasters of Wish You Were Here (CK68522), Animals (CK68521), The Wall (CK68519), The Final Cut (CK68517), A Collection of Great Dance Songs (CK68520), and A Momentary Lapse of Reason (CK68518).

There remains some question whether "A Collection of Great Dance Songs" and "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" were actually remastered. However, since new catalog numbers have been assigned those albums, it is likely both will be repackaged, if not also remastered.
