The Greens participated in the national elections of 12 October 1996 in an alliance with other parties. The Alliance received 186.492 votes (10.12%) and 1/65 district seats and 12/55 proportional seats, together 13/120 seats.
Two other small Green parties participated: the Progressive Greens received 4.333 votes (0.24%) and the Green Society received 2.150 votes (0.12%).
