  4. 21-4-1996 Fed. Verdi 2,5% and 14/630 seats (coalition with PDS and PPI)

In the last election the Greens formed one list with other parties (i.a. PDS, PPI) in a coalition called Olivo. Despite the threshold of 4% the Greens gained so 28 seats. They participate in the government with Edo Ronchi as minister for environment.

Since December 1992 is Francesco Rutelli mayor of Rome. At 16 November 1997 he has been re-elected in the first round.
