4 March: local elections in the Netherlands. Little progress for GroenLinks and De Groenen.
27-29 March: 6th Council of the European Federation in Helsinki. The Cyprus Greens joined the Federation. The majority supported the European Monetary Union.

29 March: Ukrainian Green Party receives 5,5% and 19/450 seats in the parliamentary elections.
26 April: Die Grünen lost their seats in Sachsen-Anhalt.
6 May: parliamentary elections in the Netherlands. GroenLinks made a good result: 7,3% and 11/150 seats.
5 September: no seats for Greens in parliament in Malta.
20 September: parliamentary elections in Sweden; 4,5% and 16/349 seats. Minority government of SDP permitted by the Greens and the former communists.
27 September: parliamentary elections in Germany, 6,7% and 47/667 seats. Folowed by a SPD-Grünen coalition.
6-8 November: London 7th Council of the European Federation, acceptation of a common manifest for the European elections.
