1 May general election United Kingdom. No seats for the Green Party.

The Fifth Council of the European Federation in Berlin 2-4 May.

13 May by-election for Congress in New Mexico. Third place and 13% for the Green candidate.

25 May and 1 June general elections in France. Seven seats for Les Verts. Dominque Voynet minister of Environment and Planning in coalition of Les Verts. Parti Socialiste, Parti Communiste Français.

2 June parliamentary elections in Canada. No seats for the greens.

6 June parliamentary elections in Ireland. Two seats for the Greens.

July: The Greens in Mexico got more then 1 million votes and a senator and 10 national deputies elected.

15 September: national elections in Norway. No seats for the Greens. 0,2% and 6000 votes.

21 September: 13.9% and 21/121 seats in Hamburg.

3 November, Greens in Hamburg form coalition with social-democrats (SPD)

16 November: Francesco Rutelli re-elected in the first round as mayor of Rome for a second term of five years.
Robert Cramer of the Geneva Greens was elected at the cantonal government.
