Character Sets Introduction

Below are links to tables containing different character sets codings. The character sets below are all using 8-bit coding.
I do not consider:

• codings not derived from US-ASCII (like EBCDIC or Baudot);
• non-latin character sets (like Arabic or Japanese);
• 7-bit codings (like the national variants from ISO-646:1991);
• combining technics like in ISO/IEC 6937:1994;
• supplements like ISO-IR 154 and ISO-IR 158, which need the use of code extension technics from ISO/IEC 2022:1994 or ISO/IEC 4873:1991.

But included in the tables are the corresponding Unicode id's and single byte control characters.
