Genus description:
Annual to biennial, sometimes perennaial, herbs. Stems leafy. Capitula medium, terminating the branches. Involucral bracts in 2-3 rows. Receptacle convex, with scales. Ligulate florets in 2 rows, female, yellow; tubular florets numerous, the tube terete . Outer achenes more or less triquetrous and somewhat compressed, the remainder terete.
